This summer I travelled to Rivas, the southwestern department of Nicaragua, to work in a non-governmental pediatric clinic and conduct research on child socialization. Along the way I encountered issues of poverty, development, and social justice. The experience has stayed with me and shaped my world view, although I often had more questions than answers. In the following pages I have attempted to process my journey, and to reflect on where to go from here.
