It is better to light a candle than to curse the darkness.
-Eleanor Roosevelt
My name is Becky Wornhoff, and I am a senior at the University of Notre Dame studying Anthropology and pre-health studies. My interests are in social justice, global health, Latin America, liberation theology, and children and pediatrics. I spent the summer of 2015 in southwest Nicaragua working at a non-governmental clinic through a grant from the Kellogg Institute for International Studies at the University of Notre Dame.
While there, I organized exercise and cooking classes for diabetic patients in the community, and assisted with translation and basic tasks around the clinic. I also conducted ethnographic research on child socialization. Read more on my blog from the summer. |
